Estudiante

Hey, my beautiful people!

How are we doing? Fall is upon us! While I may not live in those hell-weathered states like Texas or down south, I am excited for a beautiful, crisp season. The kids are in school, and since mid-August, so have I!

That’s right, ya girl is a student!

Well…..student 2.0?

I have technically been in school since October 2022. However, I was pursuing a program different from what I desired. I simply followed it because it was a common field and was known to bring in the mu-lah. I searched for this degree program and found a perfect fit with Arizona State University. Here, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. This degree program makes me feel like a proper student as I seek what best interests me!

Eeeekkk!

Why Spanish? Here’s a little backstory.

My first experience with learning Spanish was in 8th grade. I loved learning new words and experiencing a bit of a culture different from mine (Such as eating a chili watermelon lollipop). I took Spanish II in 9th grade. In my early adulthood, I desired to become a fluent speaker. I started and stopped Duolingo so many times. But last year, I became frustrated with my slow progress. As I write this, I am on day 808 of Duolingo! While I love Duolingo, I knew I needed more assistance.

I was able to learn little by little. However, I was not satisfied with this progress since I still needed to work on speaking naturally. My neurodivergent brain needs structure when learning something I want to master. Spanish and Fashion were my top two interests, and I chose Spanish as it has been the oldest goal to conquer.
So here I am going after it! I am wrapping up my first set of classes, and this has been quite a journey! I am busy with my head in a book or practicing my Spanish at a beginner level. I am so happy that I took this leap! The journey will not be easy, but I will stay the course, and I look forward to having that degree and a certification showing proof of fluency.

Look at me: a badass Black woman, wife, mom, Sewist, Blogger, Crocheter, Content Creator, and now STUDENT. I’m out here making waves, baby!

My husband also became a student around the same time as me! Lake is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, and I am so incredibly proud of him! Our house contains a lot of students! Here’s to some chaotic fun. 🙂

PS: When I began school, I needed some essentials to help me get my work done comfortably and efficiently. I have an Amazon Storefront with a curated list of school goodies. (the lap desks are my FAV!) You can access my storefront here.

I also have an affiliate with Amazon. You can purchase anything through my affiliate link here. Happy shopping!
